Tank Bigsby is headed to the Eagles after trade

Tank Bigsby is going to Philadelphia
The Philadelphia Eagles are adding power to their backfield with the arrival of Tank Bigsby. The move comes via trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who sent their 2023 third-round pick to Philadelphia in exchange for 2026 fifth- and sixth-round selections.
It’s the latest roster shake-up for general manager Howie Roseman, who has already brought in quarterback Sam Howell, wideout John Metchie III, and offensive tackle Fred Johnson in recent weeks. For the Eagles, Bigsby represents both insurance and depth behind star running back Saquon Barkley, while also providing a boost on special teams as a kick return option.
Jacksonville’s decision to part ways with Bigsby was driven by a crowded backfield. With Travis Etienne shining in Week 1 and rookie Bhayshul Tuten earning a role, Bigsby became expendable. For a franchise with a new general manager in James Gladstone, capitalizing on trade value was a swift decision.
Bigsby, 24, enjoyed a breakout 2024 campaign, posting 766 rushing yards and seven scores across 16 games. Though he had only five carries for 12 yards this past Sunday, his physical style should translate well in Philadelphia’s offense. Barkley handled 18 carries in the opener against Dallas, but with his heavy workload last season, the Eagles clearly want to keep him fresh for the long haul.
How Bigsby fits alongside reserves Will Shipley and AJ Dillon is yet to be determined, but the draft capital Philadelphia spent suggests they expect him to play a meaningful role. His Eagles debut could come as soon as Week 2 in the highly anticipated rematch with Kansas City.
