Jaxxson Dart Continues To Impress in NY

Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart delivered a strong debut at MetLife Stadium, helping the New York Giants secure a 31-12 preseason win over the Jets on Saturday night. Dart, the team’s first-round pick and projected franchise quarterback, stepped in for Russell Wilson during a drive with the starters before taking over with the backups. He finished 14 of 16 for 137 yards, throwing a touchdown to Greg Dulcich and scoring on a goal-line sneak after completing 13 straight passes.
Wilson showcased his arm strength with an 80-yard deep ball to undrafted receiver Beaux Collins but also had a miscommunication on an interception. He completed 4 of 7 passes for 108 yards in his extended action.
The Giants moved to 2-0 this preseason, while the Jets fell to 1-1. New York’s offense under Justin Fields struggled to find rhythm, producing only a Nick Folk field goal in his two series. Fields went 1 of 5 for 4 yards in this game after a stronger showing against Green Bay the week prior. Jets head coach Aaron Glenn noted the unit’s overall lack of execution but maintained that Fields is making progress.
The Jets dealt with several injuries, including kick returner Xavier Gipson (shoulder), Rashad Weaver and Bump Cooper (hamstring), while Sauce Gardner and Will McDonald sat out with minor ailments. For the Giants, top wideout Malik Nabers remained sidelined after missing joint practices and the preseason opener.
