Browns rookie QB Shedeur Sanders strains oblique

Shedeur Sanders’ promising preseason took a setback on Wednesday.
The Cleveland Browns announced that the rookie quarterback strained his oblique during practice and is unlikely to suit up for Saturday’s preseason matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Sanders will miss Thursday’s practice and is listed as day-to-day.
The injury occurred early in Wednesday’s session while Sanders was throwing.
Cleveland’s quarterback competition has been plagued by injuries throughout the summer. Kenny Pickett (hamstring) went down first, followed by fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel (hamstring), leaving only 40-year-old Joe Flacco and Sanders healthy for the Browns’ preseason opener against the Panthers last week.
