Best prospects still available in the 2026 NFL Draft after Round 1

Round 1 is over, but there is still starter-level talent on the board heading into Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft. The strongest remaining pool is in the secondary and front seven, with several prospects who could help immediately.

#Best prospects still on the board after Round 1

The first round cleared out the top of the class, but Day 2 still opens with plenty of NFL-ready talent. The remaining strength of this board is clear: defensive backs, edge defenders and linebackers make up the deepest pool of players who could step into real roles early.

#The secondary still has serious value

Emmanuel McNeil-Warren jumps out as one of the best players left, regardless of position. He brings length, range and a violent finishing style, and he plays with the kind of energy teams want in the middle of the field. If a defense needs a safety who can cover ground and deliver impact plays, he should not last long.

At corner, Jermod McCoy and Colton Hood give teams two attractive paths. McCoy offers the higher-end outside upside because of his press ability and ball skills, though his medical evaluation will matter after the ACL injury. Hood feels like the safer projection, with balanced coverage ability, competitive run support and fewer questions about immediate fit.

Avieon Terrell, Brandon Cisse and D'Angelo Ponds also make this a strong leftover corner group. Terrell looks built for nickel work, Cisse has the movement skills to stay outside, and Ponds brings production and confidence despite being smaller than the prototype.

#Edge and linebacker depth could define Day 2

Cashius Howell, R Mason Thomas, Zion Young and T.J. Parker all give teams useful edge options, but they win in different ways. Howell is the twitchiest of the group and plays with nonstop urgency. Thomas is more forceful and instinctive. Young brings size and power, while Parker offers enough inside-outside flexibility to interest teams looking for front multiplicity.

The linebacker group is appealing, too. CJ Allen looks like the dependable every-down organizer. Anthony Hill Jr. is the rangier athlete with more coverage upside. Jacob Rodriguez might be the best immediate value because of how quickly he finds the football and finishes plays.

#There is still starter potential at receiver and defensive tackle

Denzel Boston and Germie Bernard are the two remaining pass catchers who stand out most from this group. Boston gives an offense a bigger boundary target who can win through contact and help in the red zone. Bernard is more of a slot-driven answer, but he brings toughness, versatility and useful run-after-catch value.

Inside, Lee Hunter, Kayden McDonald and Christen Miller could all come off the board early on Day 2. Hunter has the cleanest run-defense profile, McDonald offers size and strength, and Miller is the upside swing if a team wants a more disruptive athlete to develop.

#Best available by role

  • Best safety: Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
  • Best outside corner: Jermod McCoy
  • Safest corner projection: Colton Hood
  • Best edge value: Cashius Howell
  • Best linebacker value: Jacob Rodriguez
  • Best receiver still available: Denzel Boston

#What to watch on Day 2

The biggest question now is whether teams chase ceiling or certainty. McCoy, Ponds and Terrell each come with some projection points, while players like Hood, Allen, Rodriguez and Hunter feel easier to plug into a rotation right away. Either way, the board still has enough quality left for several teams to leave Friday with starting-caliber help.
